What is my Pupillary Distance ? |

|
If you have 2 readings e.g. 65 (far) / 63 (Near) please include this in the Comments Section The PD or pupillary distance is the distance between the centre of the pupils of each eye. If this measurement is not on your prescription then the first avenue to obtaining this is to either demand it at the time of having the prescription written or phone and demand it at a later time. The Optometrist has been paid by you to do this job. You are entitle to the Full prescription. Measure the PD yourself; You will need a second person to help you measure this distance . To measure your pupils remember to look straight ahead and into the distance while a second person holds up a ruler and measures the required distance. One good way is to put a mark on an old pair of glasses and then measure this distance. The PD is important to us to ensure your glasses are aligned properly when we make them for you. PD Far : This is the distance between the centre of your pupils when you are looking into the distance and is used (obviously) for distance glasses. Multifocal Wearers : It is important to get both PD Far and Near if possible to assist us to make your glasses accurately. Different ways to write the same thing ; My PD (Pupillary Distance) is marked on my script as (example) Right 31 Left 32.5 (or similar) ? This method is sometimes used by optometrists and it is the measurement from the centre of your pupil to the centre of the bridge of your nose respectively. My PD (Pupillary Distance) is marked on my script
as just 31(example). |
