Safe and Secure with the bestYour Script explained

Don't be confused. It really is quite easy.

[ Sphere ] [Cylinder ] [Axis ] [ Prism ] [ Add ] [ Errors ] [ Upload ] [ PD ]
Intro Even though the form looks complicated, it really is quite straight forward.
  • The form you see on the screen asking for your information is called an RX form or Script.
  • This is the form that the optometrist gives you after they have examined your eyes and the information on the form tells us how to make your glasses for you.
  • Basically all you have to do copy the information from the script into the form on the screen.
  • Sometimes this can be a little difficult because optometrists don't always write the scripts using the same method but at the end of the day they all say the same thing.
  • Below is an outline of what the information means and what is and is not required.

SphereTop

What is a Sphere reading
There is no need to go into detailed explanation except to say that this reading specifies the optical power of a lens and tells us amount of long or short sightedness required. This value is in diopters.

OD and OS
OD simply means Right eye and OS means Left eye. Rarely used is OU which means Both eyes.

No Sphere reading
If your script does not have a Sphere reading then do not be concerned. It is Not Required.

Only one Sphere reading
There could be a sphere reading for you Left Eye and not your Right (or visa versa) and this is also fine.

Positive and negative readings
Spheres can be either positive or negative and you will see on your script a minus (-) or a plus(+) sign in front of your reading if it is a positive or negative reading. There should always be one or the other although some optometrists do not put a plus (+) in front of positive numbers as any number without a sige in from is in fact a positive number.

Plano
Plano means plane or zero or "no reading".

Bal (or balance)
If your vision in one eye is very poor the word 'balance' or 'bal' may be written in the Sphere Section. Just leave the Sphere reading as Plano, make a note in the comments section and send us a copy of your script with your order.

CylinderTop

The Cylinder reading
Is the amount of astigmatism in the eye. This is basically the irregular shape of the outside of the eye or lens inside the eye.

No Cylinder Reading ?
If your script does not have a Cylinder reading in one or both eyes then do not be concerned. It is Not Required.

Positive and negative readings
As with Spheres above the Cylinder readings can be either positive or negative and you will see on your script a minus (-) or a plus(+) sign in front of your reading if it is a minus. There should always be one or the other although some optometrists do not put a plus (+) in front of positive numbers

AxisTop

The Axis reading

The Axis Value is often NOT MARKED with the words AXIS but follow a "X" . This is because your prescription is in fact a mathematical formula and the X is a Multiplication sign

A typical script could look something like ;

(OD) Right Eye   (OS) Left Eye
Sphere -2.5 X 135   Sphere -2.5 X 130
Cylinder -.5   Cylinder - 1

THE 135 AND THE 130 ARE THE AXIS VALUES

PrismTop

The Prism Reading
The Prism readings are for those eyes that may not be properly aligned and may not be looking directly at the same object at the same time.

The Prism readings are rarely used. So if your script does not have these reading do not be concerned as none are required.

Add Top The ADD Reading
The ADD reading is used for the reading portion of the lens and is added to the sphere value to produce the magnification strength for this reading portion.

No Add Reading ?
If your script does not have a Cylinder reading in one or both eyes then do not be concerned. It is Not Required.

ERRORSTop

This tends to confuse people but do not be concerned.

After you have entered your script into the web site the program checks all the readings and if some vary , even slightly, from a "standard" script the program asks you to double check your script. It is only a way to help ensure that you have interpreted your script correctly and entered the correct values, nothing more.

If you are happy with the figures you have entered just accept the changes and continue.

If the program will not let you continue and keeps saying the same problems exists please contact us through the "Contact Section" of the web site and we can sort this out for you.
